Hundreds of Global Regulators and Fintech Leaders to Gather in Rio for the city’s third global innovation summit in four months
Finance of Tomorrow 2025 will tackle barriers to cross-border finance and set out green finance frameworks ahead of COP30
RIO DE JANEIRO – August 28, 2025: Hundreds of regulators, central bankers and fintech executives are set to convene in Rio from September 8 for Finance of Tomorrow 2025, a summit that comes just weeks before COP30 and as Brazil’s financial systems break records.
The agenda is expected to place artificial intelligence regulation in financial services high on the table, with three dedicated sessions on algorithmic banking, accountability and risk oversight. Another headline moment will be the 60th anniversary of Banco Central do Brasil, marked with reflections on PIX, which hit a one-day record of 252.1 million transactions in December 2024, and 6 billion transactions per month as of July 2025, according to the Brazilian Central Bank (BCB), transforming the Brazilian economy and increasing financial inclusion.
The three-day event, held September 8-10 at the Museum of Tomorrow and Maravalley, is the third global innovation summit in Rio in four months, following Web Summit in April and Rio Innovation Week earlier this month.
Organisers expect over 400 participants, and high-level speaker panels consisting of ministers, regulators, central bank governors and private sector leaders from 10 countries including Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and the United Kingdom.
Speakers include Brazil Central Bank Deputy Governor of Regulation, Gilneu Viva, Deputy Governor of Organization of the Financial System, Renato Gomes, Secretary of Economic Reform, Marcos Pinto, Uruguay’s BCU Vice President, Ana Claudia de los Heros, and a leadership team from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority including Colin Payne (Head of Innovation), and there will be a delegation from the UK Department of Business and Trade.
With COP30 in Belém approaching in November, focusing on the urgent need to deliver new climate finance targets, the green economy will be another major topic at the event. Two focused panels will debate how natural capital can be financed and how regulatory frameworks can channel more investment into climate solutions.
Finance of Tomorrow is sponsored by Rio’s investment promotion agency, Invest.Rio, in collaboration with other partners.
“Rio is proud to once again host a major event, giving the city the opportunity to set global innovation trends and placing Brazil at the center of the world’s financial debate. The frameworks shaped at Finance of Tomorrow could define how the world finances climate solutions ahead of COP30, and how money moves across borders. That is the scale of what our city is hosting,” said Rio de Janeiro’s Mayor, Eduardo Paes.
Thought about in 2023 and founded in its first year of 2024 by business owners, Bianca Lopes, Gavin Littlejohn, and Marco Araújo, Finance of Tomorrow was created to dismantle the barriers to cross-border finance and align regulatory frameworks across Latin America and the world. Its first edition drew 435 participants from 11 countries, including over 50 regulators.
Bianca Lopes, co-founder of Finance of Tomorrow, said:
“I founded Finance of Tomorrow because I was tired of watching Latin America’s talent and innovation overlooked. Our region is home to 650 million people and the planet’s greatest ecosystems; the decisions we make on finance will shape the future of both people and planet.
Bringing this to Rio matters to me as a Brazilian and carioca: a city of innovation and nature, where the world can finally hear from Latin America on its own terms. Finance of Tomorrow is our Davos, built in and for the region.”
Sidney Levy, president of Invest.Rio, added:
“Finance of Tomorrow reinforces Rio’s position as a global hub where innovation, regulation and sustainability converge. By hosting the world’s leading voices in finance just weeks before COP30, our city is not only showcasing its capacity to convene, but also demonstrating how Rio can be the bridge between Latin America and the world in shaping the future of finance.”
A youth event, Tarde do Amanhã, taking place this Friday (August 29), will prepare 25 students from Rio state schools as volunteers for the event with intensive training.
